2025/008: Adoption of Amended Version of the MOP Rules of Procedure via Silence Procedure

The UNEP/AEWA Secretariat is pleased to inform you, in reference to Notification 2025/003, that Draft Resolution Ex.4 on the Adoption of amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the Meeting of Parties to AEWA prior to the 9th Session of the Meeting of the Parties (MOP) is considered as adopted by the Contracting Parties with effect as of 18 March 2025. No objection by a National Focal Point has been received by the Chair of the Standing Committee or the Secretariat within the set deadline.

In consequence, the Chair of the Standing Committee is now authorised to submit the amended version of the MOP Rules of Procedure for adoption to all National Focal Points of AEWA via a written silence procedure. A detailed letter from the Chair of the Standing Committee on this matter is attached to this notification, as well as the amended version of the Rules of Procedure for adoption, and the adopted Resolution Ex. 4 for your information. The amendments to the Rules of Procedure have been approved by the Standing Committee at its 25th meeting (StC25).

The Secretariat would like to urge all National Focal Points to carefully consider the letter and its Annexes and to provide any comments or objections to the procedure described not later than 9 April 2025. Any objection should be directed through official letter or Note Verbale to both:

Mr. Simon Mackown, Chair of the Standing Committee: [email protected] and

Mr. Jacques Trouvilliez, Executive Secretary: [email protected]

The Rules of Procedure will be considered as adopted effective 10 April 2025 in the absence of any formal objection by National Focal Points to AEWA.
