Wadden Sea Secretariat publishes report on migratory waterbirds in the Wadden Sea
Wilhelmshaven,
5 July 2011 - The International Wadden Sea Secretariat
has now released a report on the status of shorebirds –
“Migratory Birds in the Wadden Sea 1987– 2008”,
which examines trends of the arrival and flyway periods
of the birds, the distribution of bird species in the various
regions and the potential impact of climate change over
the last 21 years.
The data presented in this report is part of the Trilateral Monitoring and Assessment Programme for the Wadden Sea and was produced by the National Coordinating Group on the Joint Monitoring of Migratory Birds (JMMB). The data is gained through regular counts for most species that occur in the area of the Wadden Sea involving hundreds of observers and several institutes and agencies.
