Venue of the 13th Pan-African Ornithological Congress (PAOC 13) changed from Nigeria to Tanzania The 13th Pan-African Ornithological Congress (PAOC 13) will be held from 14th to 21st October 2012 in Arusha, Tanzania under the theme "Birds in a Changing Environment". Originally, it was planned to hold the meeting at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Ibadan, Nigeria, but due to security and cost concerns the venue was changed to Tanzania.

The Pan-African Ornithological Congress (PAOC) takes place every 4 years and its aims and purpose are to further the study of African birds, to promote the preservation of African birds as an integral part of the African heritage, to foster the appreciation of birds and discussion of African birds in relation to man, and to disseminate information on African birds through appropriate international meetings (Congresses) and publications (Proceedings of the Congresses).
