First CMS + AEWA National Focal Point Manual Training Takes Place in South Africa

Bonn, 1 November 2013- A CMS Family Capacity Building Workshop for CMS and AEWA African National Focal Points (NFPs) took place from 29 - 31 October 2013 in Cape Town, South Africa. The workshop brought together close to 40 participants from 26 African countries and focussed on building the capacity of National Focal Points using the new CMS Family National Focal Point Manual. The workshop took place back to back with an AEWA Sub-regional National Focal Point (NFP) Meeting;for the Implementation of the AEWA Plan of Action for Africa 2012-2017.

Both the NFP Manual Workshop in South Africa, as well as the development of the new NFP Manual itself has been made possible by funding received in the framework of the Thematic Programme for Environment and Sustainable Management of Natural Resources including Energy (ENRTP) Strategic Cooperation Agreement (SCA) between the European Commission - DG Environment and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
