Coordinator for the African Initiative enters on duty at the UNEP/AEWA Secretariat

7 August 2009 - The new Coordinator for the African
Initiative, Ms. Evelyn Parh Moloko, entered on duty at the
AEWA Secretariat on Wednesday, 5 August 2009 - the AEWA
Team is happy to welcome her on board!
Evelyn’s task as Coordinator is to draft a Plan of Action for the conservation of migratory waterbirds and their habitats in Africa, including a proposal for priority areas, to be submitted for adoption to the 5th Meeting of the Parties (AEWA MOP5) in 2012. In addition, she will be involved in the recruitment of new Parties in Africa, in organising and servicing relevant meetings, in promoting the Small Grants Fund Programme in Africa and in providing advisory services to the African Parties to AEWA. Moreover, she will help identify possible synergies and enhance the cooperation with other relevant conventions and organisations in order to avoid any duplication of efforts.
Evelyn has a background in Agricultural Engineering and Natural Resources Management. In recent years she worked as Assistant Advisor for Africa at the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands Secretariat.
