AEWA Electronic Newsletter No. 29 released

Bonn, 2 August 2011 - The 29th Edition of the AEWA E-Newsletter went out to the growing AEWA network today. This regular publication is prepared by the UNEP/AEWA Secretariat and is available in both English and French. The E-Newsletter, which is distributed via e-mail and is also available online, is designed to inform the Agreement's network about recent AEWA activities and related news.

Among other things, the latest edition contains:

  • Information about the recruitment of the new Executive Secretary of the UNEP/AEWA Secretariat;

  • A brief profile of Marco Barbieri, who is leading the Secretariat for an interim period as Acting Executive Secretary;

  • And a summary of progress made in preparing for the 5th Meeting of the Parties (MOP5).

In addition, Issue 29 of the AEWA E-Newsletter:
  • Reports on the latest WOW-related achievements, including exciting news on the CSN tool winning the ESRI Award for "Best Interactive Web Map";

  • Reveals why World Migratory Bird Day 2011 has proved to be a real record breaker· and provides an update on activities relating to the conservation of the Lesser White-fronted Goose.
