AEWA Electronic Newsletter No. 28 released

Bonn, 05 May 2011 - The 28th edition of the AEWA E-Newsletter went out to the growing AEWA network. This regular publication, which is prepared by the Secretariat and is available in both English and French, is distributed via e-mail and is designed to inform the Agreement’s network about recent AEWA activities and related news.

Among other things, the latest edition of the E-Newsletter includes a farewell message from Bert Lenten, who has recently stepped down as Executive Secretary of AEWA, a call for applications for the 2011 cycle of the AEWA Small Grants Fund (SGF) and for nominations for the AEWA Waterbird Conservation Award 2012. It also highlights a number of waterbird related meetings which took place in the AEWA region over the past months, including the 13th Meeting of the IUCN/Wetlands International Goose Specialist Group in Elista, Russia; the Wadden Sea Flyway Workshop in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, the 1st meeting of the AEWA Sociable Lapwing International Working Group in Syria and a Slaty Egret workshop in Maun, Botswana.

Last but not least, it also highlights several new AEWA publications, including a revised fundraising brochure, a special Lesser White-fronted Goose Report Series and a stunning new multimedia website dedicated to the 15th Anniversary of AEWA.
