2023/003: New Party to the Agreement - Accession of Greece

The Secretariat of the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (UNEP/AEWA) is pleased to inform you that Greece will become a Contracting Party to AEWA as of 1 June 2023.

This accession will bring the total number of Parties to 84.

The UNEP/AEWA Secretariat is delighted to welcome Greece to the AEWA Family and looks forward to working closely with the Government and relevant stakeholders on the implementation of the Agreement. Greece is one the range states which participated at the negotiation meeting of the Agreement in June 1995 in The Hague and signed the final formal act of the meeting. Greece is also a Party to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) since 1999.
